Just 30 minutes from Perth, the bustling, dynamic port city of Fremantle has long been renowned for its mix of arty and alternative types. For people who have been to Melbourne, this city is a bit like Fitzroy. It’s arty, cool and has a lot of funky bars.
Swan Valley located to the north east of Perth is perfect if you fancy a naughty half day outside the city chocolate and wine tasting. I was more interested in the wine and the chocolate liqueurs, naturally.
On the third day of our road trip, we left the Grampians National Park early and drove all the way to Barossa Valley. Barossa Valley is an important and beautiful wine region a 60 KM from Adelaide. Barossa Valley is well known for the Riesling and Shiraz. As we are both wine lovers, and especially when it comes to red wine, we had to do a few wine tastings here.
Kuching, the capital of Sarawak, the biggest state in Malaysian Borneo, is a perfect base to explore the relativly nearby national parks. Besides that, Kuching is for most of the travellers the starting point of their Borneo adventure as Air Asia, Malaysia Airlines and Malindo Air have frequent flights to Kuching.
